Western PA One Walk Wrap-Up

Wow—what an amazing One Walk season! This year, the Western Pennsylvania Chapter hosted two Walks, one in Pittsburgh and another in Greensburg.

The Pittsburgh One Walk was held first on September 22nd of last month at Flagstaff Hill at Schenley Park. This walk brought out a huge attendance of both humans and their furry friends! This year, we introduced Sports Corner, sponsored by Medtronic, and it was a hit! Families and friends enjoyed corn hole, tether ball, baseball and a ton of other great games. After walk day, we totaled nearly $645,000! Next week, on September 29th, the Westmoreland One Walk was held at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. It was a beautiful day filled with love and support for those living with T1D. At the Walk, we announced almost $280,000 raised for JDRF!

However, just because the Walks are both over, does not mean fundraising has to stop. In fact, we are currently over $75,000 away from our goal for our chapter’s Walks. You can continue to fundraise the whole way until June! Some of our most successful fundraising events include school walks, school fundraisers, sneaker sales, and getting businesses involved. If you have any questions about fundraising for Walk, feel free to contact Carling Nolan at 412-258-1319 or cnolan@jdrf.org.

Thank you again to each person that contributed to our One Walks. Whether you were a walker, team, corporate sponsor, volunteer, or donor: thank you. Each year, it is more and more inspiring to see the time and effort toward one common goal—creating a world without type 1 diabetes.
