Here at the Western PA office, we hear about so many awesome and creative fundraisers happening in our community throughout the year. We can’t thank everyone enough for the incredible things you all do to push the JDRF mission forward!

The Candle Lab ‘Dollars & Scents’ JDRF Fundraiser
Love candles? Visit The Candle Lab in Lawrenceville (4409 Butler Street) on Thursday, February 27 from 11 AM to 8 PM – that day, they will donate 20% of all sales to JDRF! Stop in to pour a custom-scented candle or purchase one off the shelf in 100+ different fragrances, all while helping to turn Type One into Type None! Thank you to 2020 Team JDRF runner, Allison Lanzel, for once again coordinating this awesome fundraiser!

‘Our Goal is a Cure’
On February 10th, the South Fayette Lions Varsity hockey team will take on Hempfield at the Mt. Lebanon Ice Center as they all band together to fundraise for JDRF! Joey Trinkala of the South Fayette Lions is living with T1D and last year, raised over $3,000 at this same fundraiser. Come cheer Joey and his friends on – they’ll have a 50/50 raffle, Chuck-A-Puck, t-shirt sales, and a night of fun with their goal being a cure!

Mount Moriah Christian School’s ‘Dancing for Diabetes’ Fundraiser
From February 3rd through February 14th, the students and staff at Mount Moriah Christian School in Smithfield, PA are raising money for JDRF! With three fellow T1D classmates at their school, they are excited to rally around them and raise money for a cure. They’ll celebrate their hard work on February 14th with a special ‘Dancing for Diabetes’ Day! Thank you to Jennifer and Madalyn Ellsworth for inviting JDRF to their community with this creative fundraiser!

Carson Middle School’s ‘Pajama Day’ for JDRF
The students at Carson Middle School (North Allegheny School District) held a pajama day at school where they raised over $400 for JDRF! Thank you to the students and staff at Carson!

Franklin Elementary School Fundraiser
On February 3rd, Emily and Jamie from the Western PA staff visited the students at Franklin Elementary School in Vanderbilt, PA for a special assembly to kickoff their school fundraiser! The students and staff learned all about type 1 diabetes, how it doesn’t stop those who live with it, and how we can all help cure it during their fundraiser through February 7th. A special thank you to Jodi and Lauren White and Jennifer and Peyton Mrosko for inviting JDRF to their community. Lauren, Peyton, and their families join forces at the Annual Westmoreland JDRF One Walk and together have raised over $20,000 in just two years! Thank you to all who made this happen!
