To our JDRF Western PA family,

We hope you are doing well and taking the precautions to stay safe and healthy during the COVID-19 outbreak. Our thoughts are with everyone who have been affected by COVID-19, as well as those who are concerned about its impact on the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community. We wanted to reach out with an important update about the 2020 Promise Gala.

One of JDRF’s Guiding Principles is to persevere & be unstoppable. For our chapter, this means continuing to see through our promise of driving impactful research forward, even during the most challenging of times. With the rising incidence of COVID-19 cases across the United States, JDRF previously made the difficult decision to not hold any in-person gatherings through June 30, impacting this year’s Promise Gala. While we were hoping to bring everyone together in October, we have decided to hold the 2020 Promise Gala as an online-only event in May. Please look out for more details, including the date of the online event, in the coming weeks.

We believe this decision is in the best interest of our JDRF community and allows us to come together, share an online experience, and move forward with the mission that is near and dear to all of our hearts that doesn’t stop — fighting for a cure for T1D.

Even in the face of adversity, JDRF remains laser-focused on our mission. Your continued support is vital as we work towards a world without type 1 diabetes. We look forward to hosting you at our online Gala soon!
