Citrus Sale to Benefit JDRF

Our friends at the Wilton Kiwanis Foundation are supporting JDRF with their Annual Citrus Sale!

As we all maneuver our way through the nadir of New England’s winter, please find comfort in knowing that fresh grapefruit, oranges and clementines are ripening in anticipation of their trip to Wilton for your enjoyment. The weather in Florida thus far has been excellent, so we expect a great crop of sweet grapefruit and delicious juice oranges. Similarly, peelable, seedless clementines will again be offered for the everyday enjoyment of all ages.

You can order online at www.wiltonkiwanis.org/jdrf or download a mail order form. Orders must be placed by February 19, 2019. Fruit will be available for pickup on Fri. March 1, 12-5pm, Sat. March 2, 9am-5pm, Sun. March 3, 12-5pm. Pickup location is ECS Transportation, 390 Danbury Rd., Wilton CT (across from Wilton High School).

There is only a 2-day lag between the time we place our order and the time that the oranges and grapefruit are picked and shipped by truck directly to Wilton. Supermarket chains cannot match this sort of timetable! Therefore, the price/quality of Kiwanis’s fruit is outstanding, and whether you order 2/5 of a bushel (small case) or 4/5 (large case), the price is also a great deal. As in the past, Kiwanis will provide small bags along with your purchase…so buy a large case and give your neighbors, postman, or friends a real treat.

All profits and donations from this sale support local charities, with an emphasis on children. The Wilton Kiwanis club is the oldest service club in Wilton, and in addition to accomplishing many service projects, the Foundation provides grants to such organizations as the Wilton Y, the Wilton Community Assistance Fund, Ronald MacDonald House, and JDRF.

In addition to purchasing for your own use, please forward this to others so that they, too, can support local charities while enjoying the “fruits” of their efforts.
