Welcome our New Development Coordinator

in , ,

The JDRF Western Wisconsin Chapter is thrilled to announce that we have a new member joining our team! Please see a note below from the Chapter’s new Development Coordinator, Jordy Peter, who started with the organization a few weeks ago:

My name is Jordy Peter and in February I became the new Development Coordinator for the Western Wisconsin Chapter of JDRF. After graduating from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2014, I began a career in hospitality working at hotel front desks and then moving up to group and meeting room sales. My switch to the nonprofit sector was provoked by my personal connection to JDRF; my younger sister was diagnosed with T1D in 2000, at the age of 3. Diabetes has been a part of my life since I was 7 years old, so I grew up watching my sister struggle with the disease and the challenges that it brings. In 2003, my family moved to Appleton, WI, and soon after that we became a part of the Northeastern Wisconsin Chapter of JDRF. The love and support JDRF provided my family has turned into lifelong relationships that my family will cherish forever.

My role with the Western Wisconsin Chapter of JDRF will focus primarily on the One Walk and Outreach. My familyā€™s walk team, ā€œDarbyā€™s Gangā€, has walked in the Neenah, WI walk for over a decade, so the walk program is very near and dear to my heart. Having come from a T1D family that has been touched by JDRF staff and volunteers, I am thrilled to bring that same support and sense of community to others!
