On Saturday, April 13th, more than 400 members of the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community came together to attend the 2019 JDRF Spring Gala with one goal in mind: creating a world without type 1 diabetes. The event was a resounding success, raising nearly $500,000 to fund type 1 diabetes research. None of this progress would have been possible without the tireless work of our event partners, donors, attendees, and volunteers—we cannot thank you enough!

The evening was fun and whimsical thanks to the Kentucky Derby theme. Guests were outfitted in big hats and bow ties, ready to bet on a cure. In addition the the fun we had, we also focused on the harsh realities of living with T1D, day in and day out. We were honored to hear from our incredible Fund A Cure family, the Meyer’s, about how their daughter, Olivia, has handled life with T1D since her diagnosis in March 2018.  The impact of their story could be seen in the ballroom on Gala night and we are extraordinarily grateful for sharing their story.
