You may not be aware that crucial Federal Government funding for T1D research isn’t automatically renewed each year—or that new technologies and therapies require broad constituent advocacy to get regulatory approval and delivered faster to patients.
Every two years, we bring more than 160 children with T1D to Washington, D.C., to meet with top national decision makers. At JDRF Children’s Congress, these children—ages 4 to 17—tell Members of Congress what it’s like to live with T1D and explain why Federal Government support for research is so important.
This biennial campaign prepares JDRF Advocates to meet locally with their U.S. Representatives and U.S. Senators in Congress—while back in their home states and District offices—to establish personal relationships and explain how regulatory and health policy changes can deliver new therapies for T1D.
