JDRF mourns Jean Kuczka, T1D Parent and Long Time JDRF Volunteer

Jean Kuczka a teacher, T1D parent, and longtime JDRF volunteer was killed today during a school shooting in St. Louis, MO. JDRF extends its deepest condolences to Jean’s family and all who mourn her untimely death. Our thoughts are also with the student victim of today’s tragedy and the entire Central Visual and Performing Arts High School community.

Aaron Kawalski, CEO of JDRF, released the following statement upon hearing today’s news.

“We are stunned and saddened by the death of Jean Kuczka following today’s senseless shooting in St. Louis, MO. Jean was a dedicated teacher, an incredible mother, and a committed, passionate member of our JDRF community. Jean was set to participate in her 15th JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes this coming December in support of one of her sons who was diagnosed with T1D at 10 years old. We are heartbroken and our thoughts are with her family and her community.”
