Role Models in Diabetes

The Children’s Congress 2013 (CC13) applications are due on November 1, 2012, the event will be held in Washington, D.C. from July 8-10, 2013 so don’t miss your chance to participate! I also wanted to share another quick note from Angie Platt, Chair of CC13, on the Role Models in Diabetes town hall held during CC11:

The Role Models in Diabetes town hall session was so inspirational! To hear first how these role models not only live with but excel with type 1 diabetes was priceless: Carling Coffing, Dr. Nat Strand, Gary Hall, Kendall Simmons and Dr. Aaron Kowalski. The highlight of the town hall was to have the honor of listening to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor. To hear her description of being diagnosed and how living with the disease actually made her more responsible and determined was so inspiring. Watch the comments some of the role models made before and after the town hall below:

Justice Sonya Sotomayor, U.S. Supreme Court, with Children’s Congress 2011 Delegates:

Hope you enjoyed some of what CC13 delegates have a chance to experience, so if you’re between 4-17, be sure to apply by Thursday, November 1, 2012!
