These two world-renowned scientists, in partnership with transplant surgeon Dr. Robert Harland and their respective teams, are committed to this groundbreaking cure research, using transplantation of microencapsulated cells without the need for immunosuppression. Each project focuses on different areas of JDRF’s Cure Priority: Regeneration; disease modifying therapies that promote cell survival, and Immunotherapies; treatments that turn off the body’s autoimmune attack.
