Changes to Type 1 Talk

Back on Monday, I wrote a short post about our first Type 1 Talk USTREAM broadcast on World Diabetes Day.  This was the first time we planned a live broadcast featuring a panel of JDRF staff, volunteers, and even a diabetes blogger, Kerri Sparling.  If you had a chance to watch the broadcast, we are still looking for your thoughts on what you liked or didn’t like or what you’d like to see us do for next time around. Please leave us a comment below.

As a part of Type 1 Talk on World Diabetes Day we not only wanted to address questions submitted by the viewers, but also to help facilitate local connections for those living with type 1.  To make this easier, we put together a Facebook events tool where you could create and advertise a Type 1 Talk viewing party.  Other people using the Type 1 Talk application could then search for events in their state and sign up to attend them.  In addition to creating or searching for events, participants also had the chance to leave comments for hosts and participate in discussions.  We wanted it to be easy to chat and connect with each other!

Now that World Diabetes Day has come and gone, we will be making some changes to the Type 1 Talk Facebook application.  In the past, you could only create an event on 11/14 for our Type 1 Talk broadcast.  One of the biggest changes we plan to make is allowing people to post an event for any day or time they’d like.  We want people to continue using this tool and seeking out opportunities to meet up with others in their community.  What else would you like to see us add or change on the Type 1 Talk Facebook application?  Let us know in the comments section below!
