Help Us Spread Hope for a Cure on Facebook

A goal we
focus on at JDRF Advocacy is trying to come up with approaches that allow us to
spread our hope for a cure as far and wide as possible. One of the things we
use to do this is are social media site like Facebook and Twitter.

Starting
this month, we’re asking you to join us in spreading our message and hope for a
cure by simply sharing and/or ‘Liking’ any thing we post about the Promise to
Remember Me Campaign on your favorite social media site (and while you’re at
it, also sign up to attend a Promise meeting). As many of you may know, the
Promise Campaign is a continuation of Children’s Congress
(CC), but back in the home districts or states. CC delegates meet and develop a
relationship with their legislators in Washington
but they are encouraged to bring this relationship back home to help others impacted
by type 1 diabetes to also get to know their legislators through the Promise Campaign.

So help us
get your family and friends involved in the Promise Campaign by sharing one of the
status updates below on Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube (if you want to get
really creative!):

  • Meet your member of Congress to
talk about type 1 diabetes, find out how on the Promise to Remember Me
    Campaign site at www.jdrfpromise.org.
  • Ask Congress to make sure we
have the artificial pancreas sooner than later by joining the Promise to
    Remember Me Campaign at www.jdrfpromise.org.
  • Help Congress understand the
importance of finding a cure for type 1 diabetes, attend a Promise to
Remember Me Campaign meeting at www.jdrfpromise.org.

The pictures
below are examples of budding relationships that JDRF advocates are developing
with their legislators by attending Promise
Campaign
meetings. We build relationship with each other in the type 1
community, which allow us to be a stronger voice when we talk about a cure for
diabetes. However, that voice is much more amplified when we share this message
as one with our legislators through the Promise Campaign. The federal
government moves type 1 diabetes towards a cure by providing the necessary
funds to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). However, for this support to
remain steady, we need to make sure we continue to educate and bolster our
relationships with our Member of Congress as well. That’s where the Promise Campaign
and your involvement comes in, so please take few minutes to sign up to attend a meeting and share
this blog post on your Facebook or Twitter profiles!
