The Friday Five, Oct. 18

Hi all,

Here is today’s line up for The Friday Five this week! Enjoy!

Take the T1D for a Day Text Challenge!
Join professional snowboarder Sean Busby and experience what it’s like to have T1D for one day! Many of us on TypeOneNation may already know what it’s like for a day with T1D, but this is an opportunity you can share with your family and friends to step into the shoes of someone living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) for one day in an eye-opening text campaign. This challenge is made possible through the generous support of Lilly Diabetes. In just a single day, participants gain a deeper understanding of the challenges people with T1D face, all while raising dollars for research that will bring life-changing therapies from the lab to the T1D community. The program starts November 1st and runs through National Diabetes Awareness Month. You and your friends can be the first to experience this program by pre-registering today! http://jdrf.org/blog/2013/take-the-t1d-for-a-day-text-challenge/

This past week, we featured the Inspired by Isabella Walk To Cure Diabetes team. Read their inspirational story and the other Walk team spotlights this month on the T1D Tuesday blog! https://typeonenation.org/community_blogs/b/t1d_tuesday/default.aspx

T1D Innovations
JDRF’s partnership with PureTech to fund T1D Innovations has captured the imagination of the T1D community, due to its potential to deliver new therapies that have a major impact on the lives of people with T1D. Our friends at diaTribe® share their perspective on what makes this new venture truly so promising. Read and share what you think about this promising new therapy in the Research and Technology group! https://typeonenation.org/all_groups/research_technology_rumors/f/143/p/18638/185154.aspx#185154

A letter to diabetes
One of our members wrote a hilarious letter recognizing her 31st year living with T1D. Have a chuckle and read it here: https://typeonenation.org/all_groups/coping_with_diabetes/f/105/p/18634/185148.aspx#185148
