Congress, Protect Coverage for Pre-Existing Conditions for People with T1D

in

In the past year, tens of thousands of JDRF advocates have supported the #Coverage2Control campaign and our push for affordability, choice and coverage that works for people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Your advocacy efforts have been heard by the largest U.S. insurance companies and made a difference. Today, all 25 of the largest health plans cover the first artificial pancreas system, and many have agreed to steps that will make insulin more affordable, such as passing rebates onto customers and treating insulin as a preventative drug.

Today, our fight for #Coverage2Control continues, as a recent court decision in Texas jeopardizes protections for people with pre-existing conditions. JDRF stands with the T1D community and believes Americans with a chronic disease, like T1D, should have access to healthcare coverage at rates similar to people without pre-existing conditions.

In response to the court decision, JDRF has launched a new petition calling for Congress to defend protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

We are urging Congress to publicly re-commit to protect pre-existing conditions. Thereā€™s long been broad, bipartisan support in Congress for protecting pre-existing conditions that prevent people living with T1D from being denied insurance or charged higher rates.

Join JDRF advocates from across the country who are sending a clear message to Congress: preserve insurance protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions.

Sign the petition, and share it by email and on social media with your friends and family using the hashtag #Coverage2Control.
