Walk Team Profile: Hallie’s Heroes

in

Hallie's HeroesHallie was diagnosed with T1D when she was 14 years old. But that hasn’t taken away from her passion for dance, or her involvement at JDRF.

Hallie was a part of the Youth Ambassador program until she graduated from high school this year, serving as co-president for the 2014-2015 term. And though her walk team, Hallie’s Heroes, has been around for a few years, this is the first time Hallie’s taken on the role of team captain!

“I wanted to be a part of this organization in any way that I could,” Hallie says. “Being a type one diabetic myself, I want to see a cure within my lifetime. Starting my own team gave me an opportunity to raise awareness about what T1D is and raise money so that we can actually find a cure.”

Being a part of the walk for so long, one of Hallie’s favorite parts of walk day is seeing the community come together. “You look around and all you see are smiles, laughing, and continuous support. We’re all there for one reason, to find a cure. It’s incredible seeing how many people support finding a cure.”
