Join JDRF, Synthia Puffenberger, PhD, Pediatric Health Psychologist specializing in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Rachel Calendo, MS, RN, CPNP, CDCES Diabetes Program Manager Banner Childrenā€™s Diabetes, and Mia Betz, School Nurse, RN, BSN for a discussion about how best to prepare for the 2021 -2022 school year.

For many children and adolescents, adjusting to remote schooling was one of the most challenging aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although many kids are excited to return to school in-person this fall, others may be struggling with fears and worries related to this transition.

This talk will provide parents of kids living with diabetes practical strategies to reduce back-to-school anxiety. It will also give all attendees the opportunities to learn about 504 accommodation plans, health plans, and how best to build a successful relationship with your school care team.
