Spend Mother’s Day Eve at the JDRF Hope Gala

Spring has officially sprung here in Atlanta and the JDRF Georgia Chapter is in full preparations for the 21st annual Hope Gala.  After a record-setting $2 million event in 2015, our dedicated Gala leadership and steadfast Gala committee have been actively soliciting sponsors, donations and auction items in hopes to duplicate that unprecedented goal once again on May 7th.

The Hope Gala is the marquee event for the JDRF Georgia Chapter featuring a cocktail reception, amazing silent and live auctions, seated dinner and lively after-party. What sets this black-tie event apart from most others in the city is Fund A Cure – the inspirational and poignant moment of the evening where hundreds of gala attendees commit to generous donations of all levels to JDRF and its mission (as seen in the picture above).

Over the years, the Hope Gala has touched a lot of people – those living with T1D themselves, those with family members or friends living with T1D and also Gala attendees with no direct T1D connection but were simply moved by a story that was shared that evening. Bobby Klumok, a current Hope Gala ambassador, age 9(?) says, “I love to be an ambassador at the JDRF Gala because I want to help raise money for a cure.  It is a fun night to be with other type 1 children.  People don’t know what it is like to have diabetes.  I have had it since I was 2 years old. It is really hard sometimes.”

Gala Co-Chair, Barbara Williams, is chairing the JDRF Hope Gala for the 2nd time this May. She and her husband, Byron, were also honored at the Gala in 2011 for their years of support to JDRF. Barbara says, “the Gala showcases the heart of the Georgia Chapter, and it is one big, loving heart!” Continuing these sentiments, Barbara and Byron and their co-chairs Tracy and Jim Winchester, are very thankful for all the sponsor, donor and attendee support; because of you…we will find a cure!

There is still time to be a part of this inspirational evening. For more information on how to get involved, please contact Brett Mangum at 404.420.5996.
