The 2017 Children’s Congress Application is Open- Fill it out here!

Every two years, more than 150 children living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) gather in Washington, D.C., to meet face-to-face with some of the top decision-makers in the U.S. government. This year, JDRF’s 2017 Children’s Congress will take place on July 24-26, 2017, in Washington, D.C. The children range from ages 4 to 17 to represent all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The delegates who participate in JDRF’s Children’s Congress enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to educate Members of Congress in order for them to understand what life with T1D is like and why research to fund life-changing therapies until a cure can be found is so critical. These children speak up on behalf of the millions of people living with T1D and the families and friends who support them daily.

The Children’s Congress is an opportunity to not only educate Members of Congress about T1D, but also to forge long-lasting relationships with our nation’s leaders. Children are able to express themselves in a positive way, which helps to develop leadership skills that they can use for life. More than 1,000  have served as delegates after 9 successful Children’s Congress’ and each one has played an influential role in cultivating government relations that lead to government funding.
