Jim Roberts has been appointed to the position of Executive Director for the New York City Chapter.  Jim had most recently been serving as the Executive Director in the JDRF Northern New Jersey & Rockland County Chapter for nearly two years.

“I’m deeply honored to have this opportunity to serve in this role,” Roberts said.  “I am looking forward to meeting all of our wonderful volunteers, donors and friends of the organization in the New York City area and working together to realize our mission of putting an end to T1D.”

Jim steps into this role with more than 10 years’ experience as an Executive Director.  Prior to joining JDRF, Jim served as the Chapter President for the National MS Society’s New Jersey Metro Chapter.  In that role, he led the realignment of two struggling chapters and successfully took the unified chapter onto solid financial ground and growth.  He led a team of 20 staff and was responsible for the overall operations of the chapter and its $7M budget.  Jim was also instrumental in helping the MS Society launch its Mid-level and centralized Major Giving Program; the first of its kind for the Society.

Roberts began his career with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey where he served as their Community Relations Executive when he left after 20 years to become Vice President and COO of the ShopRite LPGA Classic, one of the leading tournaments on the ladies professional golf tour.  Jim went on to serve as Executive Director of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Diabetes Association.

Some of Roberts’ notable career accomplishments have been successfully turning around struggling organizations, his work with the United States Olympic Committee as a sponsor and award-winning fundraiser, and serving as an executive producer of major fundraising concerts featuring such notable artists such as James Taylor, Idina Menzel, Olivia Newton-John, Patti LuPone, and others.

Jim resides in Bridgewater, NJ with his daughter, Lauren, and son, James.
