Volunteer with JDRF in 2019!

Our history of volunteerism runs deep! JDRF was started by volunteers committed to creating a world without T1D for everyone affected by the disease. Without their vision, it would have been impossible to grow into the organization we are today—or to devote so much time and money to funding T1D research. We celebrate the power of everyone to make a profound impact with their time and talents. As a JDRF volunteer, you’ll join a tight-knit—but far-reaching—community that truly cares about finding a cure for this disease. Your service will directly impact our ability to fund T1D research.

ONE WALK COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

The JDRF One Walk team is looking to make the 2019 Walk season even better and WE NEED YOUR HELP! Each fall the Chapter hosts three WALKS: Westchester, Fairfield and the Hudson Valley. We are looking for interested volunteers to serve on a variety of Walk committees including:

  • Sponsorship
  • Logistics
  • Food and Beverage
  • Entertainment

Let us put your passion and talent to work!  As one of the most dynamic, volunteer-driven non-profits in the world, we cannot do this without you! Whether you would like to welcome new families, organize entertainment for our thousands of walkers, steward new sponsors, or get the word out about this wonderful event, there’s a role for you to play to secure our success!

If you are interested in participating in any of these committees and making a positive impact on the 2019 Walk please fill out this form or contact Daryl Woolsey at dwoolsey@jdrf.org or 914-686-7700.

OUTREACH COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Outreach is a critical program at JDRF, helping to connect newly diagnosed individuals and families with support and information on life with T1D. From the TypeOneNation Summit to family mentoring programs and community health fairs, outreach volunteers share both information and hope in our local communities. Our goal is to grow our committees in 2019 to ensure we are supporting the T1D community and increasing our connections with the local healthcare community. Here is a list of programs and committees that encompass our outreach efforts:

T1D Connections Program: The T1D Connections Program is a resource available to the T1D community that connects individuals to others who understand what it is like to live with T1D.  Through these connections JDRF volunteers provide emotional support and guidance while also helping families and individuals to become acquainted with JDRF in a meaningful way.

TypeOneNation Summit: The summit is an all-day educational and networking opportunity for the T1D community. The summit brings together T1D experts to share their knowledge on the latest treatments, breakthroughs in research, and the psycho-social aspects of living (and thriving!) with T1D.

Community Engagement: Through community engagement, JDRF provides opportunities for those living with T1D to connect with the larger T1D community. Our goal is to offer a wide variety of events that provide information and resources about T1D, diabetes research and personal connections that will help people manage and cope with this disease during each phase of life.

Medical Community Partnership: Maintaining a close relationship with the Medical Community enables JDRF to offer resources and support to the larger T1D community and to increase awareness of JDRF. The local medical community provides JDRF with a source of Board of Director members, TypeOneNation Summit experts, support group facilitators and speakers to name just a few of the ways these partnerships benefit JDRF.

If you are interested in volunteering in our outreach efforts to support the T1D community please fill out this form or contact Joan Benz at jbenz@jdrf.org or 203-854-0658.
