December T1D Champions

Meet our December T1D Champions, Joe Mure and the Mure Family!

T1D Champions are invaluable members of the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community who drive research progress, advocate for government action, and provide support to enrich the lives of families impacted by this disease.

This month, we are honored to highlight phenomenal members of the JDRF community, Joe Mure and the Mure Family, for their ongoing efforts to support JDRF’s mission and T1D research. For over 27 years, the Mure Family has hosted an incredible array of time-honored and year-round events to benefit JDRF.

One of these events started over 27 years ago and has grown into the event of the winter holiday season. The Mure Family hosts the Little North Pole, a festive afternoon filled with special entertainment, food, and toys, aimed at raising both dollars and awareness to drive JDRF’s mission. From spending hundreds of hours decorating, to securing live performances and food, the Mure Family works around the clock to make sure the Little North Pole is a success. Since its inception, the Little North Pole has raised over $2.5 million for JDRF!

In addition to hosting the Little North Pole, Joe partners with his longtime friends, the Gurino family, to host an annual event which raised over $200,000 for JDRF this year alone. Joe has also participated in the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes for over 10 years and will be riding again this weekend in Amelia Island.

We are so grateful for the incredibly dedicated and passionate community Joe and his family have created to benefit JDRF. Thank you for being T1D Champions and lending your time and talent to bring us closer to our goal of curing T1D!
