Type 1 diabetes (T1D) hits close to home for my family as our son Zach, 23, was diagnosed at just ten months old and our daughter Ava, 19, was diagnosed at 12 years old. As you can imagine, my wife and I were devastated. There is nothing more heartbreaking than to have your two-year-old ask ā€œDaddy, please take my diabetes away.ā€ Zach and Ava both check their blood sugar 10-12 times a day, that is 10-12 pricks on their fingersā€Æeveryā€Æday.ā€ÆThey are both on insulin pumps and Ava is also on the continuous glucose monitor. My children are amazing managers of their diabetes, and both are doing well thanks to the research and technology funded by JDRF.ā€ÆĀ

I hope you will join me in the 2021 JDRF Tee Up to Cure Diabetes Golf Classic being heldā€Æin-personā€Æonā€ÆMonday, July 19,ā€Æ2021,ā€Æatā€ÆQuidnessettā€ÆCountry Club in North Kingstown, RI. This Golf Classic has played a critical role in these advancements, raising $1.8 million since itsā€Æinceptionā€Æin 2001. Iā€Ætruly believeā€Æwe will find a cure in their lifetime, and it is my hope that you will help us once again in our efforts to create a world without T1D.ā€Æ
