JDRF One Night Gala 2024: Thank You!

in , ,

Thank you for supporting the 42nd Annual JDRF Greater New England Gala–One Night! On Saturday, April 6, more than 700 guests and volunteers joined us at the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport for an exceptional community-building evening. The energy and enthusiasm felt throughout the night was palpable! Many thanks to all of you, our incredible sponsors, families, and friends of JDRF, for your generous participation that made this One Night to remember. To date, the event has raised a record-breaking $2.5 million for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research!

Hosted by our emcees, Vanessa Welch and Mark Ockerbloom of Boston 25 News, the evening kicked off with a moving compilation of interviews filmed at this year’s TypeOneNation Summit in Boston, of people affected by T1D, and the hidden challenges that they shared. We then highlighted the JDRF Center of Excellence in New England, a world-class research institution with a laser-sharp focus on developing a cure. The center is an example of JDRF’s innovative approach to funding research that includes some of the brightest scientific minds across the globe and encourages collaboration in discovering new therapies and ultimately, a cure.

We were thrilled to recognize this year’s honorees, Lisa and Neil Wallack. The Wallacks exemplify dedication in all they do, and their passion for finding cures is an inspiration. Lisa’s initial involvement with JDRF began 50 years ago through her parents, Marilyn and Gerald Fishbone, who were among the founders of JDRF after her brother Scott was diagnosed with T1D. Lisa and Neil increased their engagement with the Greater New England Chapter after their son, Harris, was diagnosed in 2001. Their countless and impactful contributions have benefited our local chapter as well as national and international JDRF initiatives. Lisa and Neil have helped to bridge the past to the future for their children and extended family to also support JDRF and the broader T1D community. We invite you to view their video and to share their message broadly to help further drive our mission forward: https://bit.ly/jdrfgnegalahonorees2024.

Fund A Cure

There is still time to donate to Fund A Cure! One of the most powerful aspects of the Gala each year takes place during this special portion of the evening. We are truly grateful to Lisa, Neil, and Harris for sharing their story, and for motivating generosity and hope. Gifts to Fund A Cure are 100% tax deductible and are as critical as ever, as they directly support ground-breaking T1D research.
