JDRF Houston Gulf Coast Chapter invites you to apply to become a Gala Youth Ambassador at the 20th Anniversary Platinum Promise Ball on Saturday, April 27^th at The Hilton Americas- Houston.

Ambassadors play a significant role in the evening’s festivities by helping welcome guests and assisting with special portions of the ballroom programing at this black tie event which raised more than $1.8 million for JDRF funded research last year. Each Ambassador’s presence is an opportunity to help raise awareness about type 1 diabetes and thank the generous Gala patrons who are helping JDRF fund a cure through their support of the Promise Ball.

There are a limited number of spots available each year for Gala Youth Ambassadors, so participants are selected through an application process via selection committee.  Applications (w/ photo) will be accepted starting Monday, Jan 7^th through Tuesday, Jan 22^nd. All applicants will be notified January 24^th.

2019 Gala Youth Ambassador Application

Ambassador Guidelines:

-Must be a child between the ages of 6-17 (by 4/27/19) living with type 1 diabetes.

-Ambassador should have an outgoing personality and sunny disposition and be willing to greet, interact with and thank Gala patrons in a variety of roles throughout the evening.

-Must be able to participate in the Ambassador Photo Shoot on Saturday, February 9th at Lexicon Pharmaceuticals in The Woodlands (appointments will be scheduled in 90 minute intervals).

-Participation in Gala Youth Ambassador Art Project for the Promise Ball’s Silent Auction – this will be completed during the photo shoot time slot on February 9^th at Lexicon Pharmaceuticals as well.

-At least one parent must attend the gala either through purchasing ticket(s)/table or by volunteering night of event.

-Ambassadors are also asked to donate a Southwest Airlines gift certificate towards the Gala’s Auction at a suggested minimum value of $75.
