Johns Hopkins Medicine: Top Walk Team and Honoree 2016 MD Hope Gala

JDRF Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Chapter is thrilled to honor Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM) at our 2016 MD Hope Gala on November 12th at the Baltimore Hilton. Johns Hopkins Medicine is not only a significant corporate sponsor for the chapter, but also was the number one Corporate Team and top five overall Walk team for the JDRF One Walk, Maryland – raising over $20,000 for type 1 research this Spring.

carlisa-jhm-walk-captainThe fantastic success of the JHM team is due to the amazing leadership of JDRF One Walk Captain, Carlisa Jones. According to Carlisa, “Around the early 1990’s, I worked in the department of Radiology (at Johns Hopkins) and was asked to represent the department as their team captain and raise funds for JDRF.  I was more than happy to take on this challenge to help a cause I had no connection with.  I campaigned to any and everyone who wanted to me raise money.”

Carlisa was so successful that she went on to become the permanent captain for the JHM Walk team, making the team one of the most successful for the Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Chapter.

“I have given to many charities over the years, but when there is a need for children, you find yourself contributing because it’s for the kids.  So this is why I have campaigned hard on their behalf, in hope of that cure to help make their very difficult life-changing style to become more manageable and livable!” said Carlisa.

We are so proud of Carlisa and all her hard work over these many years in support of the JDRF One Walk, Maryland. Thank you to Carlisa and Johns Hopkins Medicine for their unwavering support of type 1 diabetes research and advancements.
