SENIOR DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Job Description

The Senior Development Manager position is a wonderful opportunity for a driven, experienced, and talented fundraising professional. This position is responsible for the management and financial growth for Capital Chapter’s peer-to-peer fundraising efforts, including the DC and Northern Virginia One Walks and The Ride to Cure Diabetes program.

The Senior Development Manager will manage expenses, event logistics and be responsible for over $1.2 million in revenue. He/she will be a relationship manager for donors and volunteers, including the chapter’s ride team and walk families, as well as corporate entities. The Senior Development Manager will also be responsible for developing volunteer leadership structures within each of their programs. A solid background in corporate development is essential as is a thorough understanding of the JDRF mission. This position requires a strong, collaborative leader who is results-oriented.

SPECIAL EVENTS STUDENT VOLUNTEER

JDRF Capital Chapter interns will be exposed to a wide variety of development practices and have a varied work experience. In concert with the needs of the chapter, our program allows students to choose a facet of the organization that interests them and learn through hands-on experience. It is intended to provide knowledge, skills, and experience that each intern can apply to future challenges and professional pursuits.

Position: The intern will provide support to the development team managing the Type One Nation Summit, JDRF One Walk in DC and VA, and Real Estate Games.      

Accountable to: Meredith Grosser, Development Manager

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Support logistical and recruitment planning, and follow-up for any or all our local, major events: JDRF TypeOneNation DC Research Summit; JDRF One Walk; JDRF Real Estate Games; and JDRF Outreach program
  • Support volunteer recruitment strategy and training program to support chapter initiatives
  • Plan and implement strategy and improvements to the chapter social media to effectively communicate JDRF’s message and provide clear opportunities for donor engagement
  • Aid staff in the completion of mailings, stewardship calls, and thank you notes
  • Additional duties as assigned

Skills Needed:

Applicants should have superior organizational and time management skills, excel at working independently and seek to grow as professionals.  Strong interpersonal and communications skills, and comfort in a fast-paced environment are essential.  Applicants must be able to work as a team, and must demonstrate leadership qualities and a willingness to learn.

Minimum Commitment: (TBD upon hire) Interns are expected to work 15-20 hours per week, with dates and times flexible. Internships are unpaid, although academic credit is available. Please ask your school for more information on academic credit approval and policy.
