Applications are now open to be a 2023 JDRF Minnesota and Dakotas Youth Ambassador! Youth Ambassadors support JDRF’s mission to improve lives today and tomorrow by accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications.

Youth in Minnesota, North and South Dakota who live with type 1 diabetes and are between the ages of 5-18 (Kindergarten – Seniors) are invited to apply for the upcoming program year. Members of this selective group work to increase T1D awareness in the community; volunteer for activities that impact JDRF’s mission; and raise funds to help achieve JDRF’s vision of a world without type 1 diabetes.

Every year JDRF strives to integrate resources that make the Outreach Program stronger and more beneficial to its participants. Our goal for Youth Ambassador Program participants is to feel ownership and pride in their group and work contributed to furthering the JDRF mission during their involvement. We have a number of opportunities to stay engaged throughout the term. These opportunities range from participating in JDRF fundraising events and representing JDRF in the community to attending Youth Ambassador activities where you will be surrounded by individuals with similar philanthropic principles and the hope to one day cure T1D and its complications through the support of research.

Youth Ambassadors will be able to socialize with other youth who live with T1D; seek, or offer, peer support; and have FUN while making new friends and creating memories along the way! Youth Ambassadors will also learn valuable leadership skills, build confidence, and feel empowered. The ultimate goal of the program is that Ambassadors will make a tangible impact advancing the mission work of JDRF.
