Insulin Affordability
The Shaheen-Collins INSULIN Act (Improving Needed Safeguards for Users of Lifesaving Insulin) is still in process.

The bill institutes a $35 co-pay cap for commercial insurance those and with no insurance, removes insulin from the deductible, and reduces prices for everyone, regardless of insurance status, by reforming broken insulin market incentives.

As of Sept. 6, Congress is back in session after their summer break. Stay tuned for an action alert in support of passing this bill!

Promise Campaign
The Promise to Remember Me Campaign was completed on September 2, after being launched on July 11. These important Promise meetings, offered constituents an opportunity to join in district Congressional meetings to share their experiences in life with T1D. We were able to meet with all districts and both Senators to discuss insulin affordability. As always we included a wide range of experiences, backgrounds, and stages of life among these patient voices. The key focus of this campaign was the INSULIN Act, and how it will make insulin more affordable for those with commercial insurance and the uninsured.

Advocates in Action Council (AAC)
A new young adult group is being launched for ages 18-26 for those who are interested in actively supporting JDRF Advocacy, want to spread awareness of T1D in their communities and want to inspire youth to use their voices to drive meaningful progress that benefits the T1D community. Expectations of membership include joining a local Advocacy Committee, participating in campaigns, mentoring local youth interested in advocacy, and completing an annual community service project. Leadership teams are forming now for general membership. Applications became available September 1 and will be accepted through November 30th. The first class will be announced in January of 2023. Email aac@jdrf.org if youā€™re interested in applying!
