Supporting Everyone Affected by T1D in the Rockies

Type 1 diabetes is a chronic illness.  In fact, it’s often called a family disease because it changes the day to day for everyone who lives with or cares about someone who has it.  Whatever age or stage you’re at with T1D you will find practical support, timely information and a passionate – and powerful – community through JDRF.   Locally, we offer a variety of ways to be supported and offer support with the T1D Community connections program of JDRF Rocky Mountain.

T1D Community Connections in the Rocky Mountains

  • The JDRF Bag of Hope, a backpack loaded with information – and even a new friend named Rufus – is available for newly diagnosed children and their families.   We work with our local health care providers to ensure that every diagnosed child In Colorado and Wyoming receives this gift from JDRF.
  • Newly diagnosed adults and teenagers receive educational materials and tools through the JDRF adult T1D Care Kit.
  • Through the JDRF T1D Connections Program, we are able to match newly diagnosed families with certified Outreach Volunteers after diagnosis and offer them support through their first year and beyond as they encounter new T1D milestones and challenges.    Outreach Volunteers are located all over Colorado and Wyoming and are eager to offer support!
  • We have a passionate team of staff and volunteers willing to support you and welcome you wherever you are in your T1D journey.   If you have questions or would like to learn more about any of the resources listed, please reach out to Kelli Raleigh @kraleigh@jdrf.org today!
