Are You Ready to Ride?

Twenty two incredible riders joined the Rocky Mountain Team, when registration opened January 16 for the 2019 JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes ride season. In fact they have already raised an impressive $7,920 for life changing type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. The Sonoma Ride sold out within 35 minutes, and nationally, more riders registered in the first hour than registered in the first 24 hours in 2018!

“The JDRF Ride was an awesome and humbling experience,” said rider Shawn Weidert, who represented the Rocky Mountain Chapter on Team Novo Nordisk at the 2018 JDRF Ride to Cure in Saratoga Springs, New York. “There were awards dinners on Friday and Saturday evening where we heard many inspiring stories from patients, caregivers, volunteers, family members and others with connections to T1D.  The goal is simple, turn Type One into Type None.”

The JDRF Ride isn’t just a bike ride: it’s a multi-day event where hundreds of riders come together from all over the world to make new friendships, experience the unparalleled camaraderie of the ride community, and raise money to find a cure for T1D.

Rocky Mountain Ride Coach, Tom Kissinger, shared, “I have been riding with JDRF for 11 seasons. Being a coach makes it special for me. Supporting all those folks leading up to the ride, and especially on the route on ride weekend, is a great feeling.” From developing training and fundraising plans to hosting training rides, the chapter, committee, and team of coaches have the resources to enable you to obtain your ride goals safe, sound, smiling, and under your own power.

Whether your choose to ride 25, 60 or even 100 miles, you will be part of the community that is working to change the reality of T1D for millions of people—and to prevent anyone else from ever knowing it.

The 2019 rides are filling quickly, but there is still time to join! Visit www.ride.jdrf.org to register today.
