Family Team Highlight – Dunn with Diabetes

My name is Chris Dunn.  My husband, Bob, and I have four children.  Our oldest child, Nolan, was diagnosed with T1D (type 1 diabetes) when he was two years old.  We have been living with T1D for over seven years.  During that time, our family team has been actively involved in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.  Just when we thought our lives were getting into some sort of rhythm with T1D, life decided to throw us for yet another loop. Shortly after Christmas of 2012, our little Patsy (then age 4) was also diagnosed with T1D. To put it bluntly and honestly, having two children with T1D is just plain brutal. It is a 24/7, unrelenting cycle of blood sugar testing and injections to manage the disease. To quote the musical group, Tenth Avenue North, “I’m worn even before the day begins.” Our greatest fear is that Bob and I will be so exhausted that we will sleep through that 3 am blood sugar check resulting in the worst tragedy.  We need your help.

JDRF is the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. Every dollar JDRF is able to direct toward research comes from people like you. JDRF is working to remove the impact of T1D from our lives. By joining with other teams like ours for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, you will raise the money that funds critical T1D research and will ultimately create a world without T1D.  When I look into the eyes of my children, I know in my heart that JDRF will make that a reality.  But, they can’t do it without your help.

This is a photo of Nolan and Patsy – they are our #1 reason for participating in the Walk to Cure Diabetes.  Will you accept the challenge to make a difference and walk with us?  Thank you for your support!
