Our son, Wyatt was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) at the age of 17 months.  It was tough to poke his little fingers and inject 5 insulin shots into his little body daily.  It was also quite a challenge managing a toddler’s food intake.  Wyatt has been wearing an insulin pump since he was 2 years old.  Wyatt is now 5 years old and knows no other way of life.  He is poking his own fingers and giving his own insulin.

Each year we participate in the Walk to Cure Diabetes as Wyatt’s Warriors. We have participated every year since Wyatt was diagnosed.  Over the years we have raised more than $13,000. We hold an annual sand volleyball tournament with proceeds going directly to JDRF.

We raise money to find a cure for millions of Americans just like Wyatt.  We imagine a life with no finger pokes, insulin injections, carbohydrate counting and the constant worrying.  More than anything, we want our child to grow up and live a healthy life.

Wyatt is our #1 reason for participating in the Walk to Cure Diabetes.  Along with the support of others, we will find a cure for T1D!
