Did you know that JDRF has a Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes program that you can easily hold at your child’s school?

Each day, 40 children are diagnosed with T1D in the United States alone. That’s the equivalent of an entire classroom full of students each and every day! You can support JDRF’s goal to cure, treat, and prevent T1D by getting your school involved with the Kids Walk program today!

WHY HOLD A KIDS WALK AT YOUR SCHOOL?

It’s FUN, it’s EASY, and it’s EDUCATIONAL!
There are so many benefits offered by our Kids Walk program.
Here’s a quick list:

Education: Our engaging and interactive program teaches students about type 1 and type 2 diabetes and the importance of philanthropy.
Difference Maker Awards: Participating students who raise $10 or more are eligible to receive fun gifts. It’s our way of saying thank you for a job well done!
Money for your school: 10% of the total amount raised for JDRF by your school can be awarded back to the school to use on equipment, books, field trips, or anything else your school may need.
Thank you banner: As a token of our appreciation, your school will receive a silver, gold, or diamond star banner for raising $1,000, $5,000, or $10,000 for JDRF.

HOW IT WORKS—FIVE EASY STEPS
1. Contact your local JDRF chapter to schedule your Kids Walk. Pick two dates, about two weeks apart. Your school can participate anytime of the year!
2. On the first scheduled date, a member of JDRF will lead students in an education kick-off assembly (split up by classes or grades), teaching them about both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, the importance of a healthy diet and exercise, and safe and effective fundraising strategies.
3. After the kick-off, students will have about two weeks to sell JDRF paper sneakers to friends and family for donations to support diabetes research.
4. On the second scheduled date, students turn in the funds they’ve raised at a celebratory Walk that is held on your school campus. JDRF will provide support for you on Walk Day and take care of collecting and counting the funds!
5. Wrap up your campaign. Difference Maker Awards, thank you banner, and 10% appreciation check will arrive approximately 4-6 weeks after Walk Day.
