The Nevada Chapter Volunteer of the Month program is sponsored by our community partners at Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. Each month we highlight one of our fabulous chapter volunteers and that volunteer receives gift cards for free meals from Raising Cane’s.

We are pleased to announce our Raising Canes Volunteers of the Month for July are Roy and Noell Frailey.

Roy and Noell Frailey have been seen at nearly every JDRF event since shortly after their daughter Savannah’s type 1 diabetes diagnosis in 2004. Their work, mostly behind the scenes, at all of our events and activities help make our events successful and help make our families with type 1 feel even greater support in our community.

The Fraileys serve as Outreach Volunteers, part of a team of people who reach out to and encourage families after a new diagnosis of type 1 diabetes.

Roy is always the first to volunteer to set up for events like Rock the Walk, Cork & Soul, and the One Walk, which often involves loading and unloading supplies in triple digit weather. The past several years they have also led the team cleaning and packing up after the gala, which finishes in the wee hours of the morning.

The JDRF Nevada Chapter is especially grateful for the leadership of Roy and Noell to the JDRF Youth Ambassadors. They just finished two years of volunteer service as the Youth Ambassador Chairs. The Youth Ambassador Program is made up of children and their families living with type 1 diabetes, between the ages of 7 and 17 (first grade to senior year in high school), who are interested in becoming involved with the educational and volunteer efforts of the JDRF Nevada Chapter in Clark County. Roy and Noell helped organize activities for the youth ambassadors to participate in and provided them with opportunities to share their stories and advocate for JDRF in our community. The support that they provided for our families is immeasurable.
