As we head into the holiday season, the JDRF Nevada Chapter wants to thank all of our supporters in the Northern Nevada and Southern Nevada areas for their participation this year.

We had a great TypeOneNation Summit in February, bringing together diabetes experts from across the nation and families living with diabetes in Southern Nevada. This event was made possible through a local grant from the Anthem Foundation, and national sponsorship from BD and Lilly Diabetes. Save the date for this year’s event taking place on Saturday, February 23, 2018 at South Point Hotel Casino & Spa.

In April, at the 2018 Vision Gala honoring Don Jensen the CEO and Founder of Jensen Precast, we raised more than $570,000 in Reno to support type 1 diabetes research. Read more about the event at this link.

In May, at the 2018 Hope Gala honoring Chuck and Claire Bowling at Mandalay Bay , we raised more than $1.3 million to support type 1 diabetes research. The silent auction raised $168,117 and the live auction raised $295,400 – both setting records for the amount raised in the auction for the Southern Nevada Chapter. In September, we gathered together at the University of Nevada, Reno to enjoy the JDRF One Walk. So far the walk has raised over $138,000 towards our goal of $176,200. Stay tuned for retail and sneaker sale campaigns this spring to help us reach our goal.

 

October brought the return of Cork & Soul at Tivoli Village in Las Vegas. The event was a great night of entertainment, wine, food, and shopping all supporting type 1 diabetes research. The festival included multiple music performers, food and wine tastings, and a raffle featuring items from local retailers. VIP packages included a catered dinner from Echo & Rig Butcher and Steakhouse. The event raised over $90,000 to support the JDRF One Walk in Southern Nevada.

In November, the Southern Nevada diabetes community celebrated our fundraising efforts together at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and enjoyed the JDRF One Walk. So far the walk has raised over $459,000 towards our goal of $541,000. Stay tuned for retail and sneaker sale campaigns this spring to help us reach our final goal.
