Everyday Hero: Meet the 2020 Youth Ambassadors

They are students, athletes, musicians, gamers and artists.
They are living with type 1 diabetes and they are our Everyday Heroes.

This month we recognize and honor the work of our Youth Ambassadors as our Everyday Heroes. The 2020 Youth Ambassador program is made up of 52 children living with type 1 diabetes (T1D), between the ages of 8 and 18, who are working to support the educational and volunteer efforts of the JDRF New Jersey Metro & Rockland County Chapter.

Youā€™ll see Youth Ambassadors at most JDRF events, including introducing speakers at TypeOneNation Summit, connecting with sponsors at the One Dream Gala and leading their teams at the JDRF One Walk in the fall. They also connect with other kids living with T1D at our meet-up and support groups and most recently, have started leading a virtual meet-up for middle school and high school aged kids.

YAs also speak to our corporate partners, on panels, and at community health fairs to share the realities of living with T1D.

And, last year, the Youth Ambassadors collectively led fundraising efforts that raised more than $100,000!

Our Youth Ambassadors are using their voices, talents and time and we celebrate their successes in supporting JDRFā€™s mission in our local community.

But, don’t let us tell you everything about them. Click the video below to hear from our Youth Ambassadors directly.
