New Jersey hosts first awareness day for type 1 diabetes: Burlington County Times

“Having a day to recognize people who have type 1 diabetes is a huge step towards increasing awareness of the disease. This day is very special to me, having T1D for over 9 years and seeing such rapid progress on educating the illness to people of all ages. It’s also an emotional one because while it’s a manageable disease, it doesn’t mean that I’m always happy maintaining it daily. I’m very grateful for how far research and advocacy has come for T1D, without any of this I wouldn’t be here today. A Day in the Life – Type 1 Diabetes Day is a time of reflection and acknowledgement for the T1D community, including loved ones of people with T1D. Without constant love and support that I am truly lucky to be given daily by my family and friends, living daily with T1D would be harder than it is.” Jacqui Milara
