A Sight for Not-So-Sore Eyes

The News:

While 43% of people with T1D from  1989-1993 had retinopathy that harmed vision, only 18% from 2o07-2011 showed such complications.

What This Means for the T1D Community:

Vision trouble is becoming less of an issue!  A study this week showed that one of the most feared complications of type 1 can now be less scary.  This progress is explained by better blood glucose control.  So keep up the good work, people!

Of course, if diabetic eye disease should become a problem, remember that we have Lucentis–thanks to Drs. Adamis and Ferrara, and to JDRF for early funding–to help restore vision.

How’s that for good tidings this holiday season?!
