Type One Nation Summit: Saturday, November 3rd

This year’s Type One Nation Summit  will unite hundreds of T1D patients, caregivers, and families! The event provides a unique opportunity to connect with others, obtain important resources, and speak with specialists in the field. Participants can attend a variety of diabetes-related presentations, panels, and discussion groups as they exchange advice and ideas. Throughout the day, experts will conduct research updates and presentations, sharing their valuable knowledge of T1D in relation to medicine, advocacy, and daily life.

This year’s speaker lineup includes:

Dr. Lori Lafflel, MD, MPH (Boston, MA) Joslin Diabetes Research Center, focuses her research and clinical interests on preventing the late complications of type 1 diabetes and preserving the health,normal growth, development and family functioning of children, adolescents and young adults with diabetes.

Dr. Beth Braun (Beverley Hills, CA) has been with KidShape, a family based wellness program teaching nutrition, behavior modification, stress management, exercise and parenting.  She has been featured on Oprah, CBS Evening News, and Newsweek Magazine.

Mike Lawson (San Francisco, CA) recently published a book “Open Up Your Bag”, a diabetes picture book.  Mike has worked at the Diabetes Hands Foundation and serves as a trustee on the Board of T1D international.

Other presentations will cover T1D in School, Advocacy, T1D research and two special presentations called “My T1D Story”. There will be a Youth Camp for kids K-6th grade and a Teen Camp for kids 7th-11th grade and 12th grade-college.
