We're excited to welcome our community back into the ballroom for the 2022 JDRF Hope Gala! Join us for a swanky Supper Club evening. This is a high-profile, lively fundraising event that brings the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community together for a meaningful and memorable evening. This signature event draws social, business, and civic leaders from around the Bay Area and Northern California. Please join us for cocktails, a gourmet dinner, the presentation of the Living & Giving Award, an extraordinary live auction, inspirational Fund A Cure speaker, and live entertainment by the nationally recognized dance band Hip Service.

Each year at the Hope Gala, JDRF presents the Living & Giving Award to community members who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to our mission. The 2022 honorees, Rick & Nancy Riley, were selected for their extraordinary commitment to JDRF and the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community. They are longtime supporters of JDRF and have been actively involved with the organization since their son Alex was diagnosed with T1D in 2000.
When Alex was in elementary school, Nancy Riley founded Coins for a Cure, a 24-school fundraiser in the SRVUSD, raising over $200,000. The family soon formed a JDRF Walk team “Alex’s Army” which has been a top fundraising team for many years. In 2008, Alex was selected to represent the state of California at the JDRF Children’s Congress in Washington, DC. Nancy has served on our board in many roles including Social Event Chair and Family Walk Team Chair. She co-chaired the 2007 Hope Gala and chaired eight Pixar galas benefiting JDRF. She also helped to launch the JDRF Summer Classic golf event in 2006, co-chairing it in 2019. Rick has opened doors and introduced JDRF to his corporate network which has been invaluable over the years.

Eric and Kort Peterson are twin brothers, both living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Eric was diagnosed at the age of 3 and Kort was diagnosed at the age of 14. Together, they will speak on behalf of the 1.6 million Americans who live with the disease. We thank Eric and Kort for sharing their stories and experiences, simply and honestly with all of us at the 2022 Hope Gala.

Fund A Cure is an opportunity to make an impact on the lives of people living with T1D and their loved ones through a 100% tax-deductible donation, which will accelerate life-changing research. Fund A Cure donations will be invested in JDRF’s effective and focused research agenda aimed to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until there is a cure.
