JDRF Greater Western Carolinas would like to highlight our Superhero Supporter for the month of March, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. BlueCross is our Hope Sponsor this year for our JDRF Upstate Gala, A Night Among the Stars. BlueCross has been supporting our Gala for countless years and we are so thankful for their support. We heard from Angie Gossett, Regional Marketing Director in the Greenville BlueCross sales office about why they chose JDRF.

“BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina’s support and corporate volunteer involvement of JDRF began over 20 years ago.”

“Led by a small group of employees who had children with diabetes, teams formed to fundraise, walk and participate in bike rides. Over the years, that support by BlueCross and its employees has grown,” reflected Angie Gossett, Regional Marketing Director in the Greenville BlueCross sales office.

“I am very fortunate that I have not been personally affected by diabetes in my family. However, if I meet someone who is faced with this chronic disease, JDRF is the organization I would recommend contacting. JDRF’s focus is not just on kids. No matter the age or stage of life that a person is diagnosed, the organization provides current advice and information.

Their signature gala, which BlueCross is sponsoring, raised almost $500,000 last year towards research.
I love that they are improving lives and striving to find a cure, too. I’m proud to work for a company that understands that improving people’s health creates better places to work and live,” Angie concluded.
