Fund A Cure for Local T1D and Autoimmunity Research at this year’s Dream Gala

About the Campaign

The JDRF Seattle Guild is thrilled to present this singular challenge to our community in honor of our 30th anniversary on March 9, 2019 at the Sheraton Grand Seattle. Our $2M Fund A Cure campaign reflects our commitment to our collective dream of ridding the world of type 1 diabetes.

To succeed at this ambitious goal, we will need to achieve new heights together, creating significant progress in helping cure type 1 diabetes and advance autoimmune disease research. Our $2M Fund A Cure campaign will fund two groundbreaking local projects at the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason:

  • Targeting Beta Cell Dysfunction in Longstanding T1D: Principal Investigator, Carla Greenbaum, M.D.
  • Cellular Programs Indicating Immune Tolerance in T1D: Principal Investigator, Gerald Nepom, M.D., Ph.D.

The JDRF Seattle Guildā€™s 30th Anniversary Dream Galaā€™s $2M Fund A Cure campaign will fully fund both projects, and any dollars raised beyond that will fund other critical research.

The Benaroya Research Institute is one of the few research institutes in the world dedicated to discovering causes and cures to eliminate autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, arthritis and many others. Doctors Greenbaum and Nepom exemplify these institutionsā€™ efforts through their individual research, as well as Dr. Nepomā€™s role as director of the Immune Tolerance Network (ITN), an international consortium of scientists and clinical investigators that is co-sponsored by JDRF and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. We are honored to support this pioneering research.

On this momentous 30th anniversary celebration of life-changing impact, there has never been a better time to believe in dreams! Join us as together we reach for the ultimate dream: a world without T1D.
