π Attention all aspiring architects and gingerbread enthusiasts! π
Exciting news β applications are now open for the 30th Annual Sheraton Grand Seattle Gingerbread Village, supporting JDRF! Join us as we mark three decades of spreading holiday cheer and making a difference.
This is a special opportunity for young individuals living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) β JDRF Gingerbread Village Elves! Elves, aged 6-18, will represent JDRF and collaborate with architecture teams to design and create the gingerbread houses that adorn the Sheraton Grand Seattle.
What does being a JDRF Elf entail?
1) Sharing Your Story: Families will be invited to share their daily triumphs and challenges with type 1 diabetes with the community. Your profile story and photo will be featured on the Gingerbread Village website, where you can encourage family and friends to visit, vote for your gingerbread house, and support JDRF’s mission to turn type 1 into type none. You may also have the opportunity to speak to the press during Press Day or leading up to the unveiling of Gingerbread Village.
2) Inspiring Creativity: Develop a relationship with your architecture team by inspiring and assisting them throughout the creative process. Show appreciation by baking cookies, making monthly phone calls, writing thank you letters, or any other gesture that expresses gratitude.
3) Participating in Events: Be available for specific kickoff dates and volunteer during the event. Kickoff will be held on Wednesday, June 26th, where you’ll meet the architects and prepare for the event. Press Day and the unveiling at the Sheraton Grand Seattle will occur in November, where you’ll be introduced alongside the gingerbread houses. Throughout the event, you and your family may volunteer occasionally by handing out candy canes and answering questions about JDRF and T1D.
