If you are using a t:slim X2 pump with Control IQ and want to participate in a trial looking at a new closed loop system, the iPancreas Study might be a good fit for you.

The study is a multi-site trial funded by the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) occurring in Portland, Seattle, and Spokane.Ā  The new investigational closed loop system, called iPancreas, can detect exercise and missed meal boluses and adjust insulin dosing accordingly.Ā  The system uses Fiasp insulin, a faster-acting version of Novolog.Ā  Details of the study and inclusion criteria are listed below.

This is a multi-center study testing this new closed loop system was developed at OHSU for adults ages 18 years or older who have been diagnosed with T1D for at least 1 year and are currently using the t:slim X2 pump with Control IQ. The purpose of this study is to test how well a new investigational closed loop system called iPancreas manages blood sugar.Ā iPancreas incorporates data from a Dexcom G6 glucose sensor, Omnipod insulin pump, and a Polar M600 exercise watch to determine rates of insulin to deliver.

As with any medical intervention, there are risks and benefits to participating in this study. Before you decide to participate, a member of the study team will explain all potential risks and benefits and answer any questions you may have.

WHAT WILL STUDY PARTICIPANTS BE ASKED TO DO?

There are two 7-day phases of the study done in a randomized order.

During the ā€œIntervention Periodā€, participants will use the study devices with Fiasp insulin. This phase begins with a 6 hour clinic visit during which you will be provided one meal and complete system training. The remainder of the 7 days will be spent at home. During the ā€œControl Periodā€, participants will use their t:slim X2 pump with Control IQ with their own insulin for 7 days at home and provide the pump download at the end of the week.

All study devices (Dexcom G6 sensor, Omnipod, Polar exercise watch) and Fiasp insulin will be provided. Participants will be compensated up to $600 for their time.
