JDRF is excited the COVID-19 vaccine offered by Pfizer-BioNTech is now authorized for emergency use in youth ages 12–15 years by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). We applaud the steadfast work of the many research scientists, clinical trial participants, industry partners, and government officials who have made this progress possible.

COVID-19 has taken a significant toll on the diabetes community, and for the more than 200,000 youth and their families affected by Type 1 Diabetes, this provides an opportunity to be immunized and an important step forward.
