The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendation of the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccines for use in youth ages 6 months and older is a pivotal step towards providing the youngest members of our communities with protection against effects of COVID-19. JDRF applauds the continued work of the many research scientists, clinical trial participants, industry partners, and government officials who have made this progress possible.

Like many other high-risk communities, people with diabetes have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. For the more than 200,000 U.S. families with children who have type 1 diabetes, this provides a new reassurance of protection against the virus.
