The dog nobody wants to adopt – because he has diabetes

This is Hero.  He’s a senior border collie mix available for adoption through Mountain Pet Rescue (mountainpetrescue.org).  Hero was relinquished to a shelter by his family because they could no longer care for him and this sweet, loving dog was in danger of being euthanized because he was deemed “not adoptable.”  That’s because Hero has diabetes and, unlike most dogs, he needs a special diet and an insulin injection every 12 hours.

Per his adoring Castle Rock foster mom, Hero is a very affectionate, special dog who loves people of all ages and who “…does not just like, but LOVES going on walks!”  He also enjoys car rides and going everywhere/doing everything with his people.

Per Sybil Miller, President of Mountain Pet Rescue, “We feel that Hero is here for a reason…that our purpose is to find him a home with someone who needs him as much as he needs him/her.  Perhaps that person is a child or perhaps that person is an adult, but we believe that Hero could make a huge difference in the life of someone whose life is affected by diabetes.”  If you know someone whose life would better with Hero…a happy, loving, playful canine companion who also needs special care…please share and/or apply to adopt mountainpetrescue.org
