—SAN DIEGO, April 22, 2020—The San Diego Chapter of JDRF announces Pechanga Resort Casino, the largest resort/casino in the West Coast owned and operated by the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians, as Gold Level Sponsor for the Temecula Valley ONE Walk on Saturday, June 27th. Since their first walk in 2010, Pechanga has contributed over $75,000 to T1D research from fundraising and sponsorship. They are committed to Creating a World Without T1D.  

Each year, the JDRF Temecula Valley ONE Walk brings together over 1,000 people to change the future of T1D. Many of these people have T1D themselves, and many more are friends, family, or coworkers of someone challenged by this disease. Throughout the United States, JDRF One Walks bring together local families, corporations, and schools with the common purpose of better treating, preventing, and ultimately curing Type One Diabetes (T1D), a life-threatening disease that affects over 1.5 million Americans.  

With the rising incidence of COVID-19 cases across the United States, JDRF has decided to do everything we can to keep our community safe and healthy at the same time help slow the spread of the virus. As a result, we will not be holding any in-person gatherings, events, or meetings in any part of the country through June 30th.  

For the Temecula Valley ONE Walk, that means the walk will not take place on June 6th at the Lake Elsinore Storm Stadium as originally planned. Instead, we will be hosting a virtual experience on a NEW date, June 27th. 

JDRF will continue to raise funds to help support scientific research in the area of T1D. In California, JDRF is currently funding over $30 million in support of 28 research projects including six projects right here in San Diego, including research grants at UCSD and Scripps Research Institute.
