The JDRF One Walk Southern California has raised over $1 million for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research as the fundraising continues into the month of November — National Diabetes Awareness Month.

For the first time ever, this year’s One Walk was a national effort with a goal to walk 1.6 million miles in support of the 1.6 million Americans living with T1D and to raise $50 million inĀ  honor of the 50 years of incredible research breakthroughs by JDRF.Ā  Nationwide, over 40,000 walkers and more than $17 million was raised. And walkers are encouraged to not put their sneakers away just yet! On November 14, World Diabetes Day,Ā  we’re teaming up with JDRF Ride to Cure and Team JDRF for a special World Diabetes Day Global Challenge. Stay tuned for more details to come.

The One Walk Southern California Finish Line Festival website is still live.Ā  There walkers can check out the Mile of Hope, the T-Shirt Hall of Fame, top fundraisers at Fearless 50, the Social Wall andĀ  JDRF One World, a virtual world inside Roblox.Ā  Click here for an article by VentureBeat about this exciting new way to engage with the T1D community.
