June Volunteer Spotlight: Amanda & Michele

Congratulations to Amanda O’Leary and Michele Poulliott for being the JDRF Volunteers of the Month! Michele and Amanda organized a JDRF Kids Walk at David E. Williams Middle School and Montour Elementary. Together, both schools raised over $12, 000 for JDRF’s mission to turn type one into type none.

Amanda is motivated by her son Aidan, who was diagnosed with T1D at the age of 18 months. Michele’s daughter Ava was diagnosed in 2016. Both children, along with other students with type 1, shared their personal T1D stories in front of the entire school–and they energized all the students to want to help contribute to the campaign.

Amanda and Michele even organized a pizza party for the home rooms that raised the most funds at DEW, and a VIP glow in the dark party for the Elementary School. How creative!

Thank you Amanda and Michele for the countless hours you spent organizing both Kids Walks. We’re so lucky to have such passionate volunteers like you!
